Sling TV Subscribers Climb to 2.3 Million
Sling TV was founded on January 5th, 2015. Last year Sling TV had 1.3 Million subscribers at the end of Q1 2017. One year later, Sling TV has 2.3 Million subscribers. Cord Cutting is growing.
DISH Network vs Sling TV Subscribers
There is a trend emerging from companies that offer both traditional cable/satellite TV and OTT streaming services. There is a shift occurring. The number of cable and satellite TV subscribers are declining. While Internet streaming (OTT) services like Sling TV are growing.
It is clear that traditional cable and satellite providers must transition to OTT services if they want to compete. In this chart you can see the how DISH Network subscribers have dropped from 12.23 Million to 10.85 Million. And Sling TV subscribers have grown from 1.3 Million to 2.3 Million subscribers.
DIRECTV is experiencing the same shift from satellite TV subscribers to Internet (OTT) services like DIRECTV NOW.
