Samsung Smart TVs Will Get The Roku Channel

Do you have a Samsung Smart TV? Good news! Samsung Smart TVs will get the Roku Channel! The Roku Channel is expected to arrive on select Samsung Smart TVs during the summer 2018.

What is The Roku Channel?

The Roku Channel is similar to other free internet streaming channels for your Roku player and Roku TV. With The Roku Channel, you get free movies without the need to create an account or login.

Movie genres include comedies, thrillers, actions, dramas, westerns, horrors, and more. All movies are “on-demand” so you can start the movie when YOU are ready.

As expected with a free channel, there are commercials, but Roku does two things right with commercials.

First, Roku doesn’t run a set of commercials at the start of the movie. This allows you to see if it is a movie you want to watch before having to sit through commercials.

Second, Roku does a good job at limiting the number of commercials. Roku claims they have about half the advertising per hour of traditional TV. The commercial breaks are about 10-20 minutes apart and seem to average about 2 minutes. In contrast, some cable networks and live broadcast local channels show commercials every 10 minutes for 3-4 minutes.

Let’s hope Roku keeps The Roku Channel free and with limited commercials.
