Amazon Releases the Fire TV Recast DVR

The number of people watching free live local over-the-air (OTA) TV broadcasts is on the rise. Now, Amazon releases the Fire TV Recast DVR that lets you watch and record over-the-air TV at home or on-the-go with no monthly fees.

Using a OTA TV antenna is a great way to watch local Live TV. With a OTA TV antenna you can get FREE High-Definition digital broadcast signals from your local stations like ABC, NBC, CBS, The CW, FOX, PBS, and more.

But with a DVR you can record Live TV from your TV antenna and watch shows later.

Amazon has released the Fire TV Recast DVR for your OTA TV antenna.

TiVo and Tablo also have DVRs designed specifically to be used with a TV antenna. TiVo and Tablo DVRs are very popular with Cord Cutters because they are easy to set-up and use. AirTV has even updated their device to include DVR functionality with an antenna.

We will have to see if the Fire TV Recast DVR has what it takes to compete with the TiVo and Tablo DVRs.

Two Models

The Fire TV Recast comes in two models.

The Fire TV Recast 2 tuner model can store up to 75 hours of HD programming.

The Fire TV Recast 4 tuner model can store up to 150 hours of HD programming.

The Fire TV Recast DVR will be released on November 14, 2018. Amazon is taking pre-orders now.

The Fire TV Recast DVR does not come with everything you will need to use it.

To use the Fire TV Recast DVR, you will also need the following.

Antenna
Fire TV Stick, Pendant, or Cube device; or an Echo Show
Home WiFi system that has the bandwidth to stream TV and Movies
